Brief Outline: Students read a series of 10 trivia questions in the past passive voice and choose the right answer.
Materials Needed
- PastPassiveQuiz worksheet - one for each student
Detailed Explanation:
Check the students' understanding of the past passive voice. Review how questions are constructed and show examples on the board.
Pass out copies of the worksheet. Give the students an appropriate amount of time to read the questions and answer.
The ALT/JTE should read the question out loud and if needed provide a translation, depending on the class level. Allow students to raise their hand for yes and no before announcing the correct answer.
To save on research here are the answers:
1. Yes
2. No, Murasaki Shikibu
3. No, Germany
4. Yes
5. No, 17 million
6. Yes
7. No, 1928
8. Yes
9. No, Greece
10. Yes
Variations: - If your class is of a higher level or you have extra time, allow students to write their own quiz questions.
Teaching Suggestions:
Cautions:
- Some low level students will not be able to do all of the required reading and give up so don't let the "reading time" drag on too long.
